Yellow Card Centre Scotland
YCC Scotland is a joint venture between the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Scottish Government. Its aim is to improve drug safety in Scotland. The centre is based within the Medicines Information Department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
There is also an advisory group of relevant experts which includes representatives of health professional groups able to make ADR reports, including doctors (working in hospital and primary care), pharmacists (working in hospital and the community), nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of YCC Scotland is to enhance and safeguard the public’s health in Scotland by seeking to minimise the adverse effects of medicines. To meet this objective we will seek (i) to raise the profile of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) as an important health issue amongst both professionals and the public in Scotland, (ii) to enhance the quality and quantity of spontaneous ADR reports, (iii) to improve education about ADRs for undergraduates and clinicians, and (iv) to promote research that facilitates better understanding of the causes, effects and avoidance of ADRs.
